Hundreds of foreign tourists visited Semarang, Central Java, arriving on two foreign cruise ships — MV Crystal Symphony from the Bahamas and MV Rotterdam from the Netherlands — which berthed at Tanjung Emas Port, Monday.

State-owned port operator PT Pelindo III Tanjung Emas branch general manager, Tri Suhardi, said the two ships arrived between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., as quoted by kompas.com.

MV Crystal Symphony, which was en route from Surabaya (East Java) to Makassar (South Sulawesi), carried 790 passengers and 603 crew.

The MV Rotterdam had 1,300 passengers and 600 crew. The ship was on its way from Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta to Benoa in Bali.

Upon arrival, the tourists were greeted by a Semarangan dance group.

Many tourists visited popular tourist sites, including Borobudur in Magelang and Tlogorejo Agro in Ambarawa.

Tri Suhardi said that Borobudur remained the main attraction for many foreign tourists.
